MUSEUM REVIEW – SLAVERY

Museum of Slavery

I visited the Museum of Slavery for a couple of projects I was doing in my final year of University about Racism. Its a real eye-opener to be honest about what really went on and where it went on! I couldn’t believe Liverpool were responsible for the largest slave port in the world. They were responsible for at least 50% of the slave trade and its even crazier to think that Liverpool would barely be on the map had it not been for that dark time. What’s even harder to take in is that slavery still exists today in the form of ownership. In countries like Africa modern slavery can be recognised in the form of a gold bracelet-like bar around (mostly girls’) ankles. Acting almost like a chain.
